About Me
Meet Julie, PT, DPT
(Taken from a CSM conference, a great place to get free headshots!)
An Introduction
Hi! My name is Julie, and I am a physical therapist based in North Carolina. My goal is to help prospective, current and post-grad physical therapy students navigate their futures in their chosen career. Throughout my three years of graduate school, I was extremely confident in what I thought I was going to specialize in following graduation - orthopedic sports physical therapy. I had four years of NCAA Division I soccer experience, I took all of the specialty sports courses offered, volunteered for collegiate sports research and even did continuing education courses while still a student to set me up for the best possible jobs in sports physical therapy. Little did I know that not only was sports PT not in my immediate future upon graduation, but that I was going to change my mind and actively decide against it time and time again throughout my years as a new grad physical therapist.
Purpose
In sharing my story, with all of its ups and downs, twists and turns, I aim to show those pursuing the field of physical therapy that not only is it okay to change your mind, you should change your mind, and how to think critically about the paths that lie ahead of you as a healthcare practitioner in 2024. It is a wild time to become a physical therapist, physical therapist assistant or even a rehab aide, and if I can help even just one person successfully navigate this field at this juncture, then this venture has met its goal.
